Today I went to buy a new mattress and boxspring at Jacque Penne. Decided I would apply for instant credit and prayed that I would get enough to cover the mattress. Imagine my surprise when the salesman told me welcome and told me that my limit was $2000. He told me that it was good I had not applied in another department like shoes, because I may have gotten $3-500. He said they asked him on the screen what I was planning to purchase and he put in mattresses valued between $600-1000. He said that it why I got such a big limit. You learn something new every day. Well, that and help from all of you guys here on the board!! cariba
I applied online and got $2,000 also. But I do wonder if you're going to make a big purchase if that really is a contributing factor to the 'in store instant credit' deal... hmmm...interesting concept. Ozzy.
JUST F.Y.I. ~~~ my wife's account doesn't get used much...they DROPPED THE CREDIT LIMIT FROM ~$3,000 down to $850 NO NOTICE!!!
Same here I was there checking out some expensive luggage and was invited to apply, he actually put down the amount i intended to charge which was about 800 and i got a 1500 line.
I wonder if most department stores have this policy? It makes since. The salesman was nice to begin with, but once I got the approval, he was my best friend! cariba
