I sent JCPenney a validation request and demanded them to remove a charge off. This is the letter I received: (Some abbreviations below to speed up the letter...) We have received your request to modify the account status info for the JCP CC Account. As a result of your inquiry, we have reviewed your account record and considered any extenuating circumstances or additional info you have provided. (WHAT? I DID NO SUCH THING) At this time, we have found the info we have reported to be complete and accurate. Therefore, we are unable to delete or modify the information as it was reported to the CRA, EQ, EX, TU. We thank you for understanding and respecting our commitment to reporting accurate info. (HA HA) Do I send this letter to the CRA along with a copy of my Val Req. and demand removal? Please help! Thanks
i got a similar letter (almost the same verbage) when i sent a goodwill letter to them. maybe a form letter? maybe if we sent it to a person directly, we might get a better response. any ideas, anyone?
I work for JCPenney...we do not own the card, it is owned by GE Capital. The collections dept. is based in India, because it is cheaper there to hire phone solicitors, etc. I don't have a JCP card because the interest is soooo damn high! Keep sending letters, they will eventually take care of it...but believe me, GE Capital is tough to deal with!
I agree, they will stonewall you. I have gotten them off my TU and EQ, But the Evil EXP is another monster to deal with. Good Luck 2 U!
I just kept disputing it with the CRA's. TU and EP will fold and remove it sooner or later, EXP is a whole other issue. How old is the account? Also, mine was a paid charge-off that was about 5 years old.
It is a paid charge off also. It was paid off last year. Wish it didn't matter, but i'm head butting everyone because of this.
I had success with a paid/charge off by using PFB. The person that eventually took care of it was: Jannette Sheppard Senior Client Affairs Specialist JCPenney Credit Services 972-334-1057 Granted, mine was from 1997, but it's worth a shot. At least you'll have a name now. Good Luck!
