My wife and I have a 30 day late from August 2006 from Capital One Auto Finance. We are wanting to send a GW letter to try to get it off our CR's. Do we need to send a letter for each of us, or can we get by with one letter for both of us? Also the account still has a balance and has not been late since August of 2006 . Would a GW letter work on an account with a balance?

It's always worth a try, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I would try only one letter. I would stress trying to find an "understandable" reason for the late, perhaps one where Cap1 "shares" some responsibility (i.e. web site doen, unable to process electronic payment in timely fashion, etc.). Make sure to add the "facts" that you are a loyal customer, and would like to stay a long term customer w/Cap1. Give them a business reason to remove the late.

Thanks bizwiz41 , The letter is ready then and will mail it off Monday. Between my wife and I we have 4 accounts wil Capital One, she has 2 credit cards and I have 1 and the Auto loan through them and have only had 1 30 day late since we have had them.
