I have asked on this board whether the CRAS are entitled to lump my poor credit with my wife's great credit evn though we have separate last names and she verbally added me to her card. The answer made sense until I read the board's FAQs which seems to lump "joint" accounts and authorized users as the same thing. What gives?
I may be confused, but are you saying that you were added to your wife's cards, and they are reporting on your CR (thats a good thing), but now some of your poor credit is being added to your wife's CR? BTW one of the big differences between joint and AU is that AU's are not liable for the debt, whereas joint, you are jointly liable.
Yes, my poor credit showed up on her Experian Report. I just want to clarify once and for all that this "should" be relatively easy to remove since I signed nothing, nor did she, and I could just as well be a friend of hers that she authorized as a user. Am I on track?
If she is not joint, or an authorized user on any of your poor credit, yes it "should" be easily removable. If she is an AU, you should probably call the OC first, "de-authorize" her, and then dispute.
I have dealt with the very easily by just calling the OC and stating you never agreed to be any user and never signed anything. They will remove you and update this information to the CRAs to be removed. I've done this with 4 different OC's and never a problem to be removed. It's just not worth being sued over if they can't prove the debt it legally yours. Tac
Dores everyone agree that I should call the OC first and tell them I agreed to nothing? Is this the best eway to go about it?
My entire credit report is now part of hers as well. She only authorized me as a user on 1 account. What should she do with my charged off car lease as well as any other derogs? How does she get those off there. It seems to me that she should be able to dispute as "not mine" to all of my stuff with the CRA and it should be removed. What's your take?
In a perfect world, it should happen. I would try that first. Many of us here subscribe to the theory that there is someone in a back room at the CRAs that click verify or delete on a whim though. Anyway, try simple not mine disputes, and if any do happen to come back verified, the board can give you additional pointers how to make them go away.
How could they possibly verify them? They are not hers, their mine. There are about 7 entries on her report that are mine. Can she cover this with one dispute to the CRA or does she need to dispute each seperately with the creditor? Sorry if I'm a little new at this.
She can send it all in one dispute to the CRA, but she needs to list each account individually. How can they verify if it isn't really hers? Easy - they toss a coin. Sorry for the joke, but once you've read around this board for a while, you will be amazed at the things CRAs do and don't do. But instead of fretting about what might happen, send in the letter and see what does happen!
They can and do very often verify accounts which can't possibly be a persons, even when you send them undenialable proof it isn't yours. I am suing the CRA's now on this very issue!! If you can get the OC or actual source to delete then you are one step ahead of actually having to deal with the idiot CRA's. I can't even call the simple 1 800 # at the CRA's I am told it is being handled by the "Special Handling Dept." they will call me in 24hrs for my dispute. Good and bad in a way I guess. Tac
