I have a judgement listed on our credit reports as date filed 01/05. The court date was 01/04, default judgement entered against us. (we were stupid and didn't show) Also on one CB the amount is not correct, only $1 off but still not correct. Where do I start on this? I don't want to do things in the wrong order. Would of course to get it removed from our credit reports. I have heard if you delete old addresses it may be possible. However DH had a fraud alert so he in fact at one time verified his old address through that process I believe. (identity theft/accounts opened-charged off but all that is fixed now)
I think one thing to think about is that since a judgment is a public record, there is a good chance that even if you have it removed it will appear at a later date. I think it is the CRA's that send little flunkies down to comb the records at the courthouses and this is how it ends up on your report in the first place. You MAY have some success in getting in a pay for deletion which means you have to satisfy the judgment and then the courts could vacate it and it would be off your report.
I would settle for at least getting it reported correctly. From what I am reading anything 2+ years has a lower affect on your score. The correct date would put this past the 2 year mark at least. I know it still hurts my score but just might increase it a tad.
