So, i've been battling against myself for years trying to correct bad habits, mistakes etc. I have 2 things left on my report (other than inquiries) that are bad... and i can't seem to shake. The worst, a judgement. What started with HSBC as a 600$ card, turned into a 2400$ judgement on my file. What's worse, I never received a letter, any form of communication, or service about the judgement. This was apparently 2 years ago. It's in collections by some lawyer in tampa--I don't know enough about the statutes or service rules in florida to know if this was acceptable. But it seems a little shady that they can service me without my knowledge and get a judgement. What is my best course of action here? I'd like to call the lawyer to settle the debt, but I don't want a judgement stuck in there either. I would have gladly settled the collection had I known it was going this route. Progressive insurance also has a collection report on my credit. I picked up new insurance with another company and my understanding was that company contacts the other insurance agency to cancel. Apparently not. This is about 5-6+ years old, and only reported on transunion. There is one other on transunion that I don't know what it is--old as well. Should I just keep challenging them through transunion online dispute? Appreciate the feedback--i've read through a lot of the threads here on judgements and it's been very helpful in understanding. Im trying to buy a house, so I need to take care of the "problems' left on my credit reports
