About 4 years ago a judgement was entered against me for roughly 8K by a local law firm on behalf of First USA Bank.
Now, NCO is contacting me for what I presume is the same debt and is offering to settle for 5K...
My question is, assuming this is the same debt, if I settled with NCO, could I later have the judgement vacated? I do not want to pay for one and find I still owe all or part of the other.

Do the account numbers match? You should ask them for a copy of the judgment, which they are required to provide to you. The judgment will not be vacated just because you paid it to a CA, it will show paid judgment.

Please spend some time to confirm the judgment is real. Countless unethical CA's and their attorneys send out letters which claim a judgment has been handed down when they have not. Send me a private message if you want a link to learn if your judgment is real or not.

    Basic questions to ask:

    what is your state's SOL?

Is the CA and/or the attorney legally able to collect debt in your state? Does your state require a bond and license for CA's and their attorneys?

Have you sent NCO a DV letter?
