A couple of questions : How much money is the lawyer trying to collect on this.? Does he own the debt? These questions may have been answered before but to save the time of readeing through the post I ask the questions here.
$4000.00 I don't know if he owns the debt. First validation letter came up with the copy of the default judgement and copy of contract.
Re: Re: Judgement Reported Wrong I don't know if he owns the debt. First validation letter came up with the copy of the default judgment and copy of contract claymca =============== It appears that he has purchased a defective judgment and is trying to get his money back. He should know that it's not collectable if he can't find it on file at the court house. Of course he isn't going to tell you that as it would blow his chance of bluffing your friend into paying it thus leaving him stuck with his mistake. If the judgement has been paid i would get documentation from the lawyer, take it to the court house and it would be placed in the docket. Isn't a renewal an updated record.
From everything we are reading, you do have a mess. jlynn ========== Some Thing very odd about this deal don't you think.?
Actually no. She sent anothe letter of validation. She just wants to make sure that the lawyer has a right to collect it.
Re: Re: Judgement Reported Wrong Update. The Lawyer filed for garnishment the same day he received her first letter of validation. Never replied to the second letter. Garnishment has started as of this month. Which is her check for Aug. She talked to a lawyer and was told that if she was not given 30 days to settle then there is a violation. She has snet a letter offering a settlement amount noting the violation. He has not responded as of today and the letter was received Mon. Any input?

I have a question. My girlfriend is in the process of purchasing a condo. About a week ago she received a letter from a lawyer stating that they were going to garnish her wages if she did not settle a judgement. claymca ================ Sounds like the old applying for a mortgage scam. Don't know how I missed this in reading your original post the first time.

Re: Re: Judgement Reported Wrong Actually yes and no. She has gotten a loan to pay the lawyer off. This way she is not paying as much every month. So its taken care of as off now. Afterwards she may seek legal help.
