I had a judgement that I paid with Elder-Beerman (retail store) in 1998. Then I find out the account was never closed and it had two judgements listed on my TU; one for 1341 and 1342, the same bill mind you only a dollar difference. I spoke with the Credit Dept. of the store and they are going to send me a letter stating the bil is to be listed as payment full. My question is will this change my credit score and delete the judgement? I am going to try to do the same thing with JC Penny' s, no judgement with them, though. How much of a jump in my score can I expect with two accounts going to paid in full status? Annie Just trying to keep "THE MAN'S FOOT" off my neck
Annie, you should check with the court and see if there are two judgments. Also see whether it (they) are showing as "paid" or "unpaid" on the public record. Then, if it is showing as unpaid, you have to send the court a copy of the letter stating that it has been paid (actually, the creditor should have done that). Then dispute the judgment with the CRA's. Some people would suggest sending a copy of the letter to them, that depends on whether you intend to dispute the judgment later to try to get it removed. If you want to try to get it removed, don't send them anything.
Thanks Breeze. Those B**Thes were showing this account open and updating it monthly. So Next month, I will insure that it is reported paid in full. Annie Just trying to keep "THE MAN'S FOOT" off my neck
