My father has a judgment against him from a law firm he retained to represent him. They are trying to get him to settle the judgment by making payment in full. The judgemnet is from a California court and he lives in Arizona. The judgemnt date is now more than 5 years ago. Do the state limits for collection of debts apply to court judgments as well as other debts? Can he site the State limitations as grounds for not paying this debt?

SOL on judgements is much longer than a regular debt, the bad thing is that it can be renewed. I think a judgment is good for like 10 years and can be renewed for 10 more. I think he's SOL and should pay it or try to neg with them for some lower amount.
