It seems if people here challenge creditors and CA without any worries that a judgement could happen. I would say that they are crazy but it works for them! They get the account deleted and obtain better credit. I on the hand won't touch an account that's within the SOL for fear of judgement and my credit doesn't improve. What is it that you all know that I don't?

What we all know is that is unlikely for a creditor to sue for a small amount of money. It isn't worth hiring a lawyer at a hundred or more dollars an hour to collect on a $500 debt. Sure they can get a judgment but then they have to try and collect which means more atty fees. It's just not worth the time and money to them.

That makes sense and I knew that;however, I've read about people successfully disputing a recently added account amounting to thousands.

That's true. Why didn't the creditor go after them? Who knows. Maybe they got lost in the paperwork shuffle. Some creditors keep very poor records. I have no other answer.

    To Killer:
Judgments can occur if you challenge them or if you don't.
What makes you think ignoring them will prevent a judgment?
Challenging them is nothing more than demanding proof which is what they would have to do anyway in court in order to win a judgment.
Wouldn't it be better to do this before it goes to court rather than having it wind up there?
People failing to challenge them can be a contributor leading to a judgment.
Judgments can be on of the easier things to deal with.
When they violate your rights the amount can become irrevelant.

OK...I'm gonna go for it! I'll take my time and really think how to draft the dispute. I will keep you all up to date.

I have been in court a few times both as a plaintif and the defendant.
    Thank you.
