I HAVE 6 JUDGEMENTS ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND TWO HAVE BEEN PAID THREW A WAGE GARNISHMENT AND THE OTHER 4 ARE GOING TO BE 7 YEARS OLD IN THE NEXT 2 YEARS CAN THEY STILL SUE ME AFTER THE SEVEN YEARS? I LIVE IN ILLINOIS
STEPH: Unfortunately, if youâ??re referring to a contract matter the answer is yes you are subject to a lawsuit past the seven (7) year reporting statute. Illinois provisions allow the creditor/collection agent to sue on contract for up to 15 years, and report a judgment for up to 20. M. Anthony Villasenor, CreditDefenses.com
CORRECTIONâ?¦ STEPH: ... Statute of limitations in Illinois is 10 years on contracts, NOT 15 years. M. Anthony Villasenor, CreditDefenses.com
RE: CORRECTION? I don't think this is correct. I check the following link for Illinois: http://creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml and it shows six years.
