Ok here is my issue.. Back in 1998 my mother co-signed for a car for me. She actually ended up being the primary buyer because she had better credit. Well, about 2 years later while i was in college, the car was stolen and burned in an armed robbery. I was devastated!!! I tried to make arrangements with Nations Bank/Bank of America, but nothing worked. Well the filed a judgment against me for 9,200. Well when we got the papers from the court with the orginal contract, we found that my mother's name was forged on the contract. Since then I have not done much.. I want to get a mortgage but the judgment in on my Experian report. It is not on the others and it is rpeorting twice on my credit reports as charge offs. Once as a individual charge off and once as a judgment I live in Texas. What should I do?
Um, couple of questions: Didn't you have the vehicle insured? If your mother was the buyer, why was the judgement entered against you? And what's this talk of forgery?
This doesn't add up! Since the car was involved in a major felony (armed robbery is nothing to sneeze at), you should have a police report. You shouldn't be held responsible. On the other hand, there's the question of insurance. Any car loan Ive ever had has ALWAYS required insurance, naming the bank/finance co. as the loss payee. Why hasn't the insurance company picked up the damages? Like I said, this doesn't add up! Give us more details, and we'll be able to offer better advice!
I'm not going to ask why they put a judgment on a stolen car or rather you had insurance or not . But I was not able to get my judgment removed from the credit but was able to get the trade-line removed my stating that I did not owe this company 2x and 1 should be removed and well they remove the trade line on tu and experian but exquifax decided to change it to paid as agreed...beats me
