Spoke with a mortgage broker this week.

WTH, I can't get a loan until I get rid of the judgment, so I thought I'd do some comparison shopping for a broker and be ready to choose the one that best suits my needs once the judgment goes bye-bye.

Anyway, I digress. I asked her if she had any experience funding people with judgments and she said she had.

Seems she was trying to fund a couple who had a judgment and limited English skills. She contacted the attorney that had the judgment and arranged for a payment of 0.50 on the dollar (a little high by my standards).

She said she told the attorneys that the couple was trying to buy a home and had to satisfy the judgment! She alleges that the attorneys were "very nice" and "cooperative". Told me that the attorneys wanted to get paid and they said they couldn't until the judgment was paid. According to her, the attorneys had to fly the offer by the OC, but after they OK'd it, it was a done deal.

In my case, the attorney/court costs account for about 25% of the total, so maybe they will accept their money and tell the OC they couldn't get any more.

    I can but hope.

I can't corroborate the story, so I'd play it a bit safer if I have to go this route.
