I closed on a home 6 weeks ago came across 2 judgments the lender wanted paid before closing. 1 was to a school called them to settle and they could not find me, they signed a letter clearing me of any debt, when I called courthouse to see about getting this cleared up they said I had to have the attorney who filed this do that, he has record of me, do I dispute this and hope they dont contact att. to find out I have home they can now put lean on or can they even do this being I have letter from school who cant find that I ever existed.

Heck,if you already closed on your home before judgements were paid and/or removed and it wasn't documented that you must paid these off in a time frame and loan was "signed sealed and delivered",you had some damn good luck. Some people are borned lucky and others aren't,like myself.Who was your mortgage lender????????????It's gonna take more than a signed letter "to you" to get it removed.Dispute and see what happens. With the luck you're having,it probably will not be verified on first try.

I don't know what state you live in, but I recently was able to have two judgments vacated on the basis of improper service. The creditor didn't even bother to show up--you might want to try this since the school doesn't even know you exist. Or have you asked to school to have the judgment set aside?

I used to work for a morgage lender. Actually I was a settlement specialist. It was my job to see that the borrower followed through with what was contingent on the loan. They may have given some time to resolve such matters without holding up the loan. If you don't comply, they have grounds for forclosure. On the go, What did your agreement say? Check it carefully, did you agree before signing?

What are judgements? And how do you know if you have one? Are they shown on your credit report?
