Hello There, I received a notice in Juniper this weekend letting me know that they are going to up the apr starting next month... is going to be prime + 12.24% which makes it 16.99%... this is for thier platinum mc I call and ask they told me that is a company decision to do this becuase of economy reasons... in the drawer in goes for the card....did anyone else get this notice... please advise.... Thanks, Kev
Ooh, I hope they don't try that with me. I would have no problem cancelling the card. I'm sorry maybe it's me, but do Platinum card holders deserve to pay 16.99%? Next comment: Is any Platinum card holder actually going to pay 16.99%? Dani
9.99% is my limit... I would NOTIFY them that they have exceeded your MAXIMUM interest rate you are willing to pay (9.99%), so you are NOT going to use the card, it is just going to collect LINT in the sock drawer...
kevinw01, My brother got his statement today and he didn't find any notice about raising his account's APR.Ther eis only statement and payment envelope nothing else. His rate for purchase:12.99% APR,BT 12.99 and cash advance: 17.99% Ron.
FIRST USA did the same thing to a lot of people...(they lost 3 accounts totalling about $72,000 from wife & I) They just send it to 100,000 people and see what happens... Many people DON'T care, or NEVER carry a balance, so it doesn't matter. FIRST USA "JACKED" me on ONE account...THEY LOST ALL 3 ACCOUNTS...
kevinw01, My brother just told me they lower his rate from 13.74% var. to 12.99% fixed for purchase,BT. Ron.
Hello Ron, Thanks for the info.. I will call the retention dept up in the morning and talk with them again cause accoriding to the rep I talk to this morning they are hiking all accounts up... well let's see what happens if they don't want to lower it then it will still in the drawer... and the balance transfer over to a lower rate card that I have already. Thanks, Kev
If EVERYBODY would BT their balances to other cards and NOT use them, they would RETRACT their STUPID rate hike!!!
kevinw01, One time Sears rported him past due on the Sears Mastercard in his TransUnion credit report. Juniper pulled his credit report and they didn't jacked up his rate. Ron.
FROM THEIR WEB SITE... Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for Purchases, Balance Transfers, and Convenience Checks 1.9% fixed APR is effective for the first six months. After that 9.99% variable.*
* If payment is received late during the introductory period your rate will be increased to the non-introductory rate.
