My credit report has steadily been improving since getting info from this board. I have just received a "preapproval" from Juniper with balance transfer ability. I've read all the posts here that say Juniper is tough and uses Equifax, which contains my last and only remaining collection account for $60.00 from 3 years ago.( I can't get those people to remove, even if I pay!). Equifax score is 635. Should I apply or am I just adding an inquiry, of which I have none? I also just read today that I can contest this collection account and if I understand correctly, it won't show if a prospective credit grantor runs a credit check. I am I reading this right? Thanks to everyone! Cheers!

If you dispute an account through EQ, it will still show when the creditor pulls your report. However, it will now show as "in dispute by consumer".

I believe you're referring to the scoring system with EQ, which is, you place an account on EQ in dispute, and your score rises because that account is no longer calculated into your score.

Thanks, for the info. I just found out about this today. I want to check it out further. The score will rise then if disputed?

ME F.I.C.O. 711 DENIED FOR THE 3rd TIME...
HER F.I.C.O. 741 DENIED FOR THE 2nd TIME...

    They are "JACKING" interest rates...

Who knows...I PERSONALLY would not do it...

It should rise, but there is no guarantee. I know alot of members have reported the score went up when they placed an item or items in dispute, however, when I did it, my score stayed the same.
