    Hi everyone,

I need some advice on this situation with juniper bank.Let me explain what happen, and tell me if they will restore my availiable credit, my account is not closed. Here's what happened i did a balance transfer with discover about 2 weeks ago for 6200.00 to my juniper card, some how discover made a mistake on my juniper account # by only having 15 digits instead of sixteen digits. They left a digit out of the first 6 digits causing the error. So when i called discover to stop the transaction they told me they would put a stop payment on the transfer now discover did stop the payment causing a returned check charge to my juniper account i don't know how juniper can post the transfer from discovercard when my account was off by 1 number but it did show up on my juniper card but now discover pulled the money back causing my balance with juniper to read$ 6142.38 this includes a $19.00 returned check charge that juniper charged to my account. Now i just called a CSR with juniper questioning my account charging suspension, and explained to him what happened. He said he has no authority to restore my availiable credit but only the credit department can only do it.Will they give me back my availiable credit after i call their credit department explaining this accident with them with discovers balance transfer transaction?I just resubmitted the transfer through discovers website making sure my account nuber is correct with juniper bank, and juniper bank should have it within 7 to 9 days. This makes me feel bad because they view me as a risky customer, but they didn't charge me any penaltly rate on my account that has a balance,i am still at their 5.9% promotional rate.Since this is not my fault they should restore my availiable credit alright right?Thank you for all of your post on this matter.

I don't see why not. Don't worry about it, things should work them selve out.

Just make sure you're on top of things and make the required phone calls.

    ble103,

I think that you should be fine. I think that they will reinstate your account completely and honor your current interest rate, though it may take a bit of a justified temper tantrum to do it.

I would bypass the normal customer service reps and speak with only supervisors or unit managers, and call several times about it (i.e. you are an excellent customer with excellent credit and you are VERY inconvenienced by this). Make sure the reps put notes on your account about this and promise to call you back with a solution (get names, operator numbers, etc...). THEN, go directly to PlanetFeedback and write an "I'm an angry customer to be so inconvenienced by an accounting mistake not my fault". You need to get as many "notes" from different authority levels on your account about this as possible, so that Juniper cannot ignore it.

When you stopped payment on the Discover check, did you call Juniper to tell them not to try to cash it - or if they did, to note that the check had a stop payment b/c of an account number error on the part of Discover, and that Discover would issue a new BT transaction?

A very similar thing happened to me with Capital One and Household, when Cap One sent a check to the wrong address (HHB sub-prime doesn't do electronic transfers with other banks). When I found out, I immediately called Cap One to request a stop payment, which they did and reissued a new check to the right address. I *also* called HHB several times to warn them of the 1st check going to the wrong place. Even though HHB Bank said that they wouldn't cash it, and that it would be sent returned uncashed to Cap One, and for me not to worry - guess what? Those people cashed it anyway - three weeks later. Of course, the check bounced and they charged me the $29 fee - but because I had warned HHB several times in advance that this check was "out there" incorrectly and had been issued a stop payment, the HHB rep said "I see all the notes on your account about this, so I'll refund the fee immediately". And she did; the easiest thing I've ever gotten from Household.

So, don't be surprised that Juniper tried to accept that electronic transfer/check. Your name was on it - so they matched it to your account with that information, regardless of the missing digit on the account number. Banks have a lot of ways to trace the right accounts to the right people, since I'm sure they see these kinds of account errors all the time.

You'll get it fixed. YOU were inconvenienced by their mistake, and they need to fix it to keep a good customer happy. Be insistent about it, but be nice. They'll take care of it.

    Hi Marci,

Thank you very much for your post on this matter.I will call juniper's credit department on monday morning, and explain the same thing what happened with discover's electronic payment to my juniper account like i did with this CSR that i have spoken today.I will get the name of this person handling this.I hope i can get it resolved on monday if not then i will go to PFB,and send them a letter of complaint.Juniper has been very good to me but i just think it was wrong for them to suspend my availiable credit when i didn't write this bad check to my account.Discover does electronisc payments on their balance transfers.I do hope that juniper will reverse the $19.00 return check fee that they have charged to my account.
