junum has changed there billings fee effective 12/01 they did this with no notice to me,(i noticed today when my checking account was hit for 80.00 they will now be charging 5 per dispute and 10 per deletion. i have been with them since april 01 and they managed 33 deletions. now the cras are sending me letters regarding the disputes as previously investigated. so........... i do not know which way to go now should i send a wave of validatin letters to all the ca's still listed and cancel junum.. and can the cra's refuse to reinvvestigate thanks
Well, I think it's terribly unethical for Junum to change the terms of your contract with them without any notice to you whatsoever. My armchair legal expertise (roughly translated, means, "I don't know too much about the law," lol) tells me that they can't simply change those terms at will and bill you any which way they like. Doc
so should i just cancel it and start my own mission?? do u think i can have as much success as they did?
Well, you're asking about two different issues, and I'd rather not help confuse the two. Let me tackle them separately: 1) "Junum has changed their billing fees effective 12/01, and they did this with no notice to me..." You should definitely pursue this. Let them know that you think they broke the law by not informing you of the change in terms. Demand a refund for the amount above and beyond what you expected to pay, and let them know that you need to take 2 business days to figure out whether or not you will remain a customer. If you get no cooperation, demand to speak to a supervisor; also let them know you will post about your experiences to several credit-related bulletin boards, to PlanetFeedback, and to the Better Business Bureau. You'll get your refund. 2) "So should I just cancel...? Do you think I can have as much success as they did?" Well, that's impossible to address, since you didn't let us know how much success you've achieved while using their services. If you're asking if it is possible to do credit repair on your own with as much success as a credit repair firm like Junum, of course the answer is a big YES. On the other hand, "can you" and "will you" are two different things. If you're someone who rates low in the "stick with it" department, who procrastinates, who has trouble with simple organizational tasks, or all of the above, then you will greatly benefit from paid assistance with most tasks including credit repair. If you've got at least average organizational skills and you aren't a chronic procrastinator, then you should see excellent results doing it on your own. Do spend some time, though, becoming familiar with how to do basic CRA disputes; reading this board (and others like it) is a terrific place to start. I hope these answers are helpful to you! Doc
i took your advice and contacted them, they told me they would credit my account within 24 hours. i did cancel my membership because i think 5 per dispute than 10 per deletion than 14.95 a month is a bit much.. i have my experian report and am in the process of sendin validation letters to about 8 ca's listed. so if they dont respond do i forward this info to experian and demand they remove it? and will they
Requesting validation from CAs is a good place to start. At the same time you're doing that, it wouldn't hurt to dispute the tradelines with the credit reporting agencies as "not mine." By requesting validation from the CAs and, as a parallel effort, sending tradeline disputes to the CRAs, you're maximizing your time by covering both bases at once. As for what happens when the CAs validate, or what to do when they don't validate, take my advice and don't worry about that today. When you receive a response from a CA and would like some advice about how to proceed, post the complete details at that point. Even though general guidelines may be helpful, I think you'll get the best help when you're able to discuss a particular situation with specifics. (As Dads everywhere like to say, "hold your horses.") Ok, if you can't hold your horses, at least do some homework, LOL -- search this board using the term "validation" and you'll certainly learn a lot! Doc
