couldn't do it, man their retention CSRs are tough, she said oh this is your oldest open TL I say yes, she says well why do you want to close it, I say the apr is 23.99 and my cl is only 3,000, these are by far the highest and lowest on ANY of my accounts, she says well if I raise your cl to 10,000 and lower the apr to 9.99% would you be willing to keep the card open? Sure, I guess Damn, I really wanted to cancel this one too, but I guess leaving my oldest TL open isn't such a bad thing
I called Cap 1 today to close my account, too, and you are right - the CSR kept asking why I wanted to close it, but you got more than I did... No offer to increase my limit ($500, and she said I wasn't eligible for an increase because I don't use it enough). No offer to decrease the 14.99% rate, either - she said that's all I qualified for. Yet, she tried to convince me that this account was worth keeping for emergencies. No biggie, though - it didn't make any kind of dent in my overall credit availability. Also, the $59 annual fee isn't worth it.
they just made a good point on CB, Crap One doesn't report limits anyways so this increase will not help my utilization at all!
alright just called back and explained to them that having this card only showing a 200 CL is actually hurting me more than helping me since if I use it for 100$ I will look 50% utilized thus lowering my scores and hurting me, the rep then said she could close my account right away! Done and Done!
I would have BT'D IT to an account I could have BT'D it back from one week after the statement date!!! $9.900.00 "HIGH BALANCE"
I don't spend that much money George, I am poor, only about 1,000 to 2,000 a month, and only carrying a 256$ balance, it's not worth the effort, at least i don't think so.
Yeah, I didn't mean it as an insult George, I always heed your advice, I even have the DL skymiles gold and am using it up a storm now I just never liked dealing with them (crap one) and am kind of scared to charge something up like that, wait for the cycle to close, and then return it, ya know? Thanks for the advice anyways George
I need to make that call to Cap1 also, to see if I can get my yearly fee waived. I hate doing this stuff, I'm such a coward about calling CSR reps. But last time I called, I was able to get that 5.99% rate with BOFA. If they won't waive it, I'll still keep my Cap1 card. I like to keep it for the AU reasons, I can give someone my perfect history helping their scores and only risk my lowwwww CL with Cap1. I wouldn't dare make someone an AU on my $20k bofa cc.
FYI: I just checked my credit repot (RMCR) and all three of my Capital ONe accounts show the increased credit line. In fact it shows the high credit as the total amount the card has ever been. In other words once I was over teh limit like $250.00. It shows my high credit limit as $750.00 vs. the actual $500.00 credit limit. These cards were open in 2000 and 2002.
when I closed my card they really tried keeping me.. I called my secured 1400/99dep card. There were willing to drop the yearly fee and unsecure that card and increase but my arguement was that my highest report balence was 200 and the fact that they didn;t report CL did more damage to me then good... I stated I was mainly interested in the card for credit rebuilding and Cap1 did its job... so I needed to move on
Well, you should all feel honored. When I called to cancel my card in September, all I got was an automated response telling me to cut up my card. I've never heard another word from them. I guess I must have REALLY sucked as a customer. I never really used it much which probably explains why they didn't care.
DH's crapitol 1 card was up for renewal. As a matter of fact, the annual $59 fee hit on 12/5 on his big $250 CL that they kept saying wasn't eligible for an increase. On 12/6 I had him call to request a CLI and a waiver of the annual fee. No go. The most they would do is cut the annual fee by 50% and raise him to $500. Told them he considered that to be an insult and to close the account and make sure it reads account closed by consumer. Tried to give some BS line on how the CRA's could take up to 4 months to report properly. Laughed at him and told him it better be updated properly and immediately or Crap 1 would have the lawsuit. 1 down, 3 to go!
Kind of scared to charge something up like that, wait for the cycle to close, and then return it, ya know? ero2 """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Do a bt to your checking then write a check and pay it to Cap one after the cycle closes.
