Hello all. I'm just getting started with credit repair, and I've done some reading here over the past few weeks. It's a lot to take in, but I'm feeling better about the process. If you're interested, below is my situation and my basic credit info. I'm just not sure where to start... which letter or tact to use, etc. Any experienced guidance or direction would be GREATLY appreciated.

    The Background

About 7 years ago, I got into some serious financial strain due to a lost job and medical issues. I didn't have to declare bankruptcy or lose the house, etc. but my credit score took a huge hit and it took me a while to get steady again. For the past year or so, everything has stayed on track with good budgeting, no late payments, money set aside for emergencies, an affordable mortgage, and so on. Now that I know that credit repair is possible, I figure it's never too late to start fixing things.

My current scores are in the 620 to 650 range.

    Credit Report Issues

    > Mortgages: I've moved a few times over the past five years and now have four or five old mortgages on my report; all but the most recent have delinquencies. These are companies like AMC, Chase Manhattan, Citifinancial and Bank America. Is there any chance of getting these larger companies to remove bad marks or are they too good at record keeping?

    > Credit Cards: I have a few older credit cards with serious delinquencies, including Aspire, Discover and Best Buy. As above, is there a reasonable chance of getting them to remove bad marks?

    > Collections: I have two accounts that went to collections agencies. One for DISH Networks that was paid in full on 04/2006 and one for a local air conditioning company that went through CFS Receivable Management and was paid in 02/2004. I figure these are the easiest place to start, I'm just not sure which step to take first.

If you have any suggestions, I do appreciate the guidance!
