Hi everyone.... its time to get my life/ credit on track! A few years back I started reading this board with the idea to fix my credit. It was unforunately the wrong time and I didn't have the financial means to hit the ground running. So here I am now- in a much better financial position and ready to start doing some research. I commonly see advice for people to take a few weeks and read the board, however, this brings a few questions to mind:

    1. Some of these posts go back to 2001, do the same rules and strategies still apply today over 10 years later?

    2. Since Obama has been in office have any of these rules and regulations changed that will impact my game plan once I review my current situation?

Welcome to Creditnet! Here are my thoughts in response to your questions:

1.) Some do and some don't. Post questions when you they arise, and we'll give you current opinions.

2.) In general, I would say the consumer has even better protections today, especially relating to credit cards. However, I don't believe there have been any major recent changes to the FDCPA that you should be aware of.
