no decision still, BUT I did ask about there merger and if the card I had applied fro would stay a bank one card and retain the same rewards and visa signature benefits, they said absolutely, since Chase is not buying Bankone but simply they are merging. Just an FYI for those that were worried.

ARE THEY KEEPING THE BANK ONE NAME or BOTH???

"IF" they DROP the BANK ONE NAME...and use CHASE...I'M AFRAID THAT THE CHASE STUPIDITY WILL STILL BE THERE...

A friend of mine is a teller for Bank One. He has told me the word around his branch is that the name will be changed to J.P Morgan something or another. Can't remember the exact name but it included J.P Morgan.

No telling how accurate that is, you know how "talk" is.

I work for Bank One on the credit card side, and the word as of Thursday 01/15/04 that the new company name will be JP Morgan Chase Co. The two card sides will coexist until further market reserach determines which is the stronger platform to merge together. This holds true for banking branches and also for company logo etc.

Coincidentally, Bank One just spent lots of time and money prematurely breaking our contract with FDR, in anticipation of the I3--TYSS rollout slated for September 2004. Chase currently uses FDR, so Thursday Jamie Dimon said in an address to Bank One employees "Welcome back to FDR." So now were are unsure as to what systems we'll be using. Should be interesting.

Ero, mine is back in reconsideration..I am working with the office of the President....I PFB'd them ...they really responded fast (though the process is taking forever)...maybe a PFB would get their attention, too?

    NanaC and ero2,

I hope the cards you get make it worthwhile for all the headaches Bank one has put you through.

    This is ridiculous.

Brad, it's clear this isn't a card I want anymore...I am only following through cuz I hate what they did to me on inquiries..3 now..one at each CRA, 2 without my permission after initial decline...:(

Sigh..I should have listened to everyone when they posted about Bank One...LOL

It's not so much the wait that makes me upset but the fact that I found a very good Visa Signature card, with good rewards program (flexible rewards visa signature) and now I will probably never use it because their is no point in building up points for spending on it only to be told when (the merged bank one and chase) decide it is a card no longer of value to them and I will forfeit my points. Or is that not the way it works? Would they send out a letter saying we are converting your card to a blah blah card and you have xx number of days to use your points? Any clue about this guys?
