I can't figure this credit scoring thing out-- just when I think I got a grasp on it- one of the CRA's throws me a zinger. Here's the scenario- TransUnion. I have a problem account: GNB/Bealls. They verified info with Experian, I then pointed out they were reporting different information on TU & Eq. I requested verification of the debt & info on how to pay if it was a valid debt. Their response (OOOOH SO NICE OF THEM) was to take the worst data from each report & report it to all 3 bureaus. Reporting now as Charge-off/collection account. They didn't even provide me a payment address with their typed letter. Seriously there isn't a return address on the letterhead. Ok- but the funny thing is when they reported to TU... the original account is being reported as an Installment account- when they sent the update is showing as a Separate Revolving Account (both have the same info about being charge off/collection $343 owed).... so I have 2 identical listings one R & one I. You'd think the status being charge off/collection would hurt right???? WRONG-- My Fico went up 80 pts (with no other information changing) Any ideas?? I'm wondering if I should even mess with it. But this company is just a mess with everything (Bealls-) reporting to CRAs, debt accounting/collection... you name it. TransUnion/Fico doesn't seem to be any better off.
