I checked my credit score at Transunion yesterday and I finally broke the 700 mark. At one point a few years ago it had dipped down to 583 with several late payments and chargeoffs. It was a long road back. I still have lots of derogatories on my record, but they are aging and I'm more financially secure with my revolving debt almost entirely wiped out. In 5 years of trying, I wasn't able to get a single deletion of anything on my reports. I'm not really sure what I did wrong or whether that strategy is just outdated. For me, I just wasted a bunch of postage. Anyway, I plan on buying a house within the next 18 months and it finally feels like it shouldn't be a problem.
Congrats to TheDude! It's unfortunate the process wasn't expedited w/ disputes or deletions, but better late than never, right? Anyway, glad to hear it!
