About a month ago, we were talking about Karyn from www.savekaryn.com and her internet pandhandling in order to pay off a $20,000 credit card debt. Well, I've been keeping up with her on her website and she's actually almost reached her goal!!!

Anyhoo, while piddling around on the internet, I came across her picture. :)

This is for all of you who wondered what she looked like!

I didn't know if gifts from nonrelatives were taxable or not (since it's cash)

    LOL Marie,

She posted a snippet that she was reporting everything to the IRS; I think she addressed it to the IRS.

She cracks me up in a ditzy barbie-ish kinda way. She's personable though and knows how to work it, she can't be a dummy, down to 5k from a 20k debt.

The last I read she was writing to Donald Trump to see if he'd admire her spunky spirit enough to pay off the rest of her debt, LOL.

    Sassy

I've always thought that if the gift was over $10,000, then you had to report it? Is it true or false to think that?

No! Gifting law allows one to give up to $10,000 without consequences.

Since no SINGLE gift from anyone was $10,000 or more there are no tax consequences.

If one person gives you a $ Million = tax bill.

If 1 Mill. people give you 1 dollar = No tax bill.

That said: The IRS has been pulling their own shanigans on these in an attempt to extort money from the Citizen.

She's a smart little cookie and knows that even tho taxes may not be due, one is still required to "report" the gift.

For example there are tax free bonds where no taxes are due but the income is "reported".

They will be coming after it anyway so she's reporting, or at least SAYS she is. I hope she's saving enough to pay if the IRS wins their case.

Also, whether one works for it or not is not an adjudicating factor. For example we don't work for Capital Gains either, but they're taxable.

It's being called a gift. But the IRS may have a case.

    :)

That's brave to ask someone to help you pay to basically leave your husband.

Hey, I want a Firebird, so I should start a website:

    IWorkAndIAmRepairingMyCreditToBuyOneBeforeTheyStopSellingThemCompletely.com

    or.

    IWorkAndIWantOneMillionDollarsButIDon'tKnowAnyLeprechauns.com

    LOL...........
