direct mailings in the mail- I hadn't for a long, long time- does this mean they're checking my credit and it's finally up to par enough to apply for a card with them? I haven't had a credit card on my own in about 11 years-
What kind of Citicbank card? I haven't received an offers from Vitibank and I have to apply for all on myCiticards. I like Citibank. Ron.
this week yesterday it was the American Airlines rewards card and today it's the Platinum Select card.
It is good card to have and AA Card has annual fee for airline miles. Citibank has a good customer service and I have a couple of accounts with them since 99. Ron.
I think it's a sign that your credit has reached an acceptable level. If they're sending you a lot of offers, they probably want you as a cardholder. One offer doesn't prove anything, but a lot of offers prove that they're trying to get to you before anyone else does. In addition, pre-approved offers are a good sign. They aren't guaranteed by any means, but they're sure a lot better than "invitations" or "pre-selected" offers.
Then Discover must really want me!! I get 2-3 offers a week, sometimes two in the same day. I had a Discover card once and canceled it. I guess they can't take a hint.
CITI is not a bad company for cli's, but I heard from other board members that they've recently been jacking people's rates?????
I don't know about that. I haven't seen anything about a rate change on mine, but they're tied up with BTs good for life of transfer anyway, so I probably wouldn't care at this point.
LOL, you had to bring Discover into this... They send out those worthless "pre-selected" offers that don't mean a thing. Even as toilet paper, they're only useful in emergencies. I believe my statement would apply to most pre-approved offers, and particularly to pre-approved offers from Citibank. That is, in those cases, the number and frequency of offers would be significant. In all fairness, "they" could have been referring to Citibank, and not to credit card issuers in general. In my experience, they (Citibank) have a lower "nonsense quotient" than most other banks. And thank you, Hedwig, for gracing this thread with your quick wit and obvious intelligence.
