I have been in settlement discussions with a large financial bank over a disputed/divorce related account that is a couple of years old. We have made several counter offers to each other and no for the past 30 days they have been unresponsive. Today I received a letter saying that my credit card account had been sold to First National Bank of Omaha and they look forward to servicing my needs. I will be receiving information in the coming months.........
say what?????? The account is closed and in settlement discussion. Did FNB just buy a big portfolio of debt and mine is now caught in that or what? Are my settlement negotiations of the past 3 months now of no value???? Someone with more expertise than me, please give thoughts.......

i'm betting yours is just one of a larger portfolio. i would contact the original company ASAP and find out.

well that's what i'm saying. i wrote to them about two weeks ago but they are no longer responding. do you mean call them on the phone? i may do this tomorrow and see what i can find out. what should i ask if they say yes they sold it?? how sucky is this? i worked hard as did the collector to come to a tentative agreement and now its sold?? how bizarre.

Use whatever you have documented to pick it up w/the new company.
