Hello, Background: I will soon be paying off a KSU student loan in 8/2002 definitely way early as acct opened 10/1998, pay off is definitely ahead of schedule as I pay 250.00 monthly when $40.00/mo was only required. Problem: My question and probably answer to my question is that 2 of the 3 major credit reports are showing this account as paying as agreed --1 time 30 days late this is showing date of 9/99 and at that time I don't believe I was in repayment or I was still enrolled in school(not KSU though)(this is on my TU and EXP CR's). My Equifax report shows never late-- pays as agreed. My question is that the account is listed on the negative section on those two reports and I really would like to see the account as positive in both as it is in my Equifax report, this and it is relatively adds some acct history time to my report. I definitely should act soon as my last payment date would be in Aug 2002. I am really wanting to see how I can go about getting this removed from negative status in EXP and TU. My main question is should I dispute it or Goodwill letter to the loan company which is University Accounting Services LLC. If I dispute it -what would be the best way to approcah this, as you may all know I am under that pre newbie status here and I do searches daily but would like some customized feedback if possible regarding this situation. Next payment is not due until Sept 1 2002--minumum would be 40 but I send the usual 250 this would pay the loan off but what I am concerned about is if I pay it off it will it be more difficult to have the account status changed on TU or EXP, or is it all together too late and it will remain as that on my CR's for the remainder of its 7 year run? I could be wrong but when you are enrolled in a University or another college the loan is in deferrment and at that time I know paper work was brutal so if the paperwork was not received in time the loan possibly could have been late but I just dont understand how it is reported and updated on equifax as never late, any ideas comments feedback etc would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, JBM from the Windy Ridge
If you were in school during that timeframe, obtain a letter from your school's Registrar stating your dates of attendance. I did this for loans and sent an original of the letter to the credit bureau and everything was DELETED. cariba
I have the same thing with my Citibank loans (16 of them). They have me as 30 days late in 11/99 when I had an in-school deferment. Citibank last week mailed me a letter confirming this so now I have to mail this to Experian and faxed to TU today(equifax shows never late). Word of advice make sure you have them place this on their letterhead, signature, and list accounts. Experian doesnt know if they will accept my letter from them because it has my accounts lumped as my ss# and not all 16 listed. Mine was a mix-up because I had changed schools.
My wife's uncle lives in the kent ohio area so it wasn't hard for me to know what KSU meant in your post.
