Dealerships must have their own individual rules. When I bought my car, I wanted to charge the down payment but the dealership wouldn't accept credit cards. So I ended up going to the bank to get a cash advance and using a personal check.

I was rather annoyed since I knew of two other people who had purchased their cars and used their credit cards for their down payments. However I got a great deal on the car plus I snagged 2.9% financing only two months after my chapter 7. Granted I had to pay the cash advance fee ($25), but I paid off my credit card with my tax refund and spot bonus check from work so it wasn't too bad.

YOU CAN GET YOUR PRICE...THEN "WHIP OUT" YOUR CREDIT CARD...IF THEY WANT THE SALE THEY WILL TAKE IT!!! IF THEY SAY NO...WALK!!!

CREDIT CARD FEES ARE A "COST" OF DOING BUSINESS...(TAX DEDUCTABLE).

    They sell car parts...
    They rent cars...
    They repair cars...

    ALL ON CREDIT CARDS...

Don't forget they are making BIG bucks. So what if they it cost them 1.5% extra to make a sale.

I believe Jason is the king. He's charged $240,000 to his Amex Gold. No problem getting the authorization - he's an Amex amployee :)

Whatever happened to that website where Jason from Amex was always answering questions about Am express. I used enjoyed that & he had some some really interesting inside knowledge about Amex & gave very good advice

That wasn't a good credit board to begin with, and it got even worse.

Jason has indeed been giving excellent advice. He's off the boards now, and although he's missed a lot, I can understand his reasons.

We still exchange e-mails every now and then, and his advice is still the best.

Largest charge $8k on Citi Plat Select for furniture. When I call Citi to let them know about the purchase the rep advised me to ask the furniture store if they would hold a personal check for a week. Citi rep advised me to use my balance transfer offer for %0 until 2/03 to myself and I should receive the check in the mail within a week. Once I received the check made the deposit into my account and called the furniture store to deposit the check they were holding. I was shocked and thankful for the advise of the Citi rep.
