My wife just got back from Vegas for a convention. She wants to go back in July for a family vacation. I've looked at package deals and we can afford it. They list about 25 hotels to choose from, from the cheapest to the most expensive. I need some advice on where to stay. It will be two adults and one 13 year old, for about a week. The hotels listed in our price range are: Excalibur; MGM; New york-New york; Treasure Island (Mirage); Luxor;Monte Carlo; Aladdin; Mirage; Caesars Palace; Flamingo; and Hilton. If I decide to splurge a little, may also be able to afford the package that includes Mandalay Bay; Paris Las Vegas; or Bellagio. Any suggestions are appreciated. She stayed at Ballys, but wants to try something else when we go back. We are looking for something nice, but not too nice. I can get a good package deal, so don't need to go cheap (like I usually do).
When we were in Vegas this past March, Saar stayed at Caesars for a couple of nights and liked it a lot. We both got rooms for 1 night at the Venetian. They have a deal you can probably get. For $99 per night, they give you a luxury suite. It is 650 sq. feet and very, very nice.
Is the Venitian nicer than Caesars? I can get Caesars for under $700 for seven nights in the package, but the Venitian is not offered. Right now I am dealing with Southwest Air because I like them best and they offer nonstop flights. Most of the other airlines have one or two stops on the way.
I narrowed the choice down to Caesars, Rio Suites, Treasure Island, and the Mirage. Anyone have any imput? Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated.
Yes, first of all, get the software from travelaxe.com and install it. It's the best tool around and you can search for travel deals in seconds. For Vegas, I've found it better than farechase.com As for the 4 hotels mentioned: Caesar's Palace: Great rooms, great location - 2 thumbs up! Mirage: same as Caesar's Rio: Great rooms, bad location. Treasure Island: Rooms & service are so-so, lots of kids, great location. Sorry I can't give any gambling advice, it's not my thing, and people often mistake Vegas for a city that has nothing to offer but casinos. Saar
Thanks Saar. I don't gamble either. I have never been there, checked out the prices, and decided to go. Very inexpensive vacation. I'll check out that travel site. I have been dealing with Southwest Air, partly because I have always liked them and partly because they have more nonstop flights. Their prices are comparable to the Expedia site, but flight schedules are a lot better.
You said it's gonna be during July. Well, if you're staying there during July 1, 2, 7-11, 14, 18-19, 25; then you can get a SUITE at the Venetian for $99 !!! (This would require a coupon code - let me know if you need it). Saar
Thanks for the input. We booked a room at Caesars Palace. Leaving in a couple days. This is the first time in over 30 years of marriage that we have a vacation with no kids. My understanding is that you just leave a lot of food around the house and everything will be ok. Right?
I live in Vegas, have for ever it seems. I would steer you away from Rio Suites, they are off strip and if you want to wander and take in the wonderful sights you have to take a shuttle. They are not very geared to kids in my opinion, but it can be a nice place to stay for young adults. Lots of sexy shows going on in the Masquerade area. If you stay anywhere between Tropicana and Flamingo you are in great shape, ride the Monorail or one of the other casino operated free rails and see it all no matter what room you have. Have a great stay in our fun city!
