Hi Folks, Have what I think is a simple two questions where I need clarity. Its been a year since I have looked at creditnet and I need a quick refresher on facts. I assume something still remains on a credit report for 7 years from the date of last activity. Who determines what last activity means. ? Is this spelled out anywhere ? The reason I ask is that I have 3 old creditors going back to 1997 that have been charged off and never touched by me since that time period. Of course there has been constant activity on a month to month basis by the creditors by reflecting the so called last activity date as (excample: today 2004) is the last time they updated the account. They have been updating it monthly and yearly and there is no 7 year end in sight because the date is always moved forward to the present. I have 4 years of credit report copies that shows this by the way. The most confusing is EXPERIAN. There is no reference to last activity date with them at all. They call it date of status/last reported. Keep in mind these creditors report it every month and have done so since 1997 and experian seems to have helped them out with their language which alllows these accounts to remain on my report forever. How do I tackle this mess so I can get them removed from my report. Thanks for your help...Is whet these creditors doing Legal ?
The DOLA is SUPPOSED to be determined by the date of delinquency in which the account never again became current. Although, as we all know there are some CA's (and even OC's I am finding) that change this DOLA to fit their needs. Experian: You can call them and find out when it's scheduled for deletion, and/or try disputing it as "obsolete please delete" or a simple "not mine" although if they're continuing to report it regularly, that may not help. Are you speaking of OC's or CA's? If it is a CA, DV them and then dispute with the CRA's. Good luck

The 7 yrs is from date of first delinquency. 1997 to 2004 is 7 years. I would simply dispute with the CRAs as obsolete please remove.
