    Hi all,

I just got my JCPenney and CapOne statements this week, both had late fees tacked on because the payments were received late due to the mail being slowed on Sept. 11. I call JCPenney and they had already removed the late fee. CapOne however had an attitude and refused to remove it and of course with a measely $200 limit the late fee caused an over the limit fee. Should I just go straight to Planetfeed back with this? Any good ideas would be appreciated.

The law needs changed from a fixed due date to a floating due date.

Talk to retention, Crap 1 will always remove 1 late fee for free. However, don't be suprised if "such late fee" comes back and bites you in the butt when you ask for a 6 month credit line increase.. it will..

When you ask for them to remove the late charge ask them to delete the account history or say I don't want this to affect my account for future credit limit increases and they will remove it from your history. The CSR can do this too

...and if that doesn't work, write the "personal finance editor" or "consumer advocate" at your local newspaper. This would not be the kind of publicity ANY company wants at this time!

    Jerks!

I noticed on my Home Depot (GE) statement a box saying that they would automatically remove any late fees for Sept.

Chase has a wonderful recording, "we care about our customers and have many programs to help- please let our representative know if you have any special needs ..."

Some companies think for the long-haul, or at the least appear to have consciences.

The problem is there is too much confusion between

    DATE PAID
    DATE RECEIVED
    DATE CREDITED
    ===================AND===========
    DATE OF AWARENESS

THE DATE THEY RECEIVED IT, MIGHT NOT BE THE DATE CREDITED TO YOUR ACCOUNT...SOME BANKS HAVE AN 8 AM POSTING TIME, SO IF IT IS NOT RECEIVED BY 8 AM, IT GOES ON THE NEXT DAY. IF IT IS RECEIVED 1 PM ON FRIDAY, IT IS CREDITED TO YOUR ACCOUNT ON MONDAY.

IS A $200 CREDIT CARD IMPORTANT? IF THEY WON'T REMOVE THE LATE...DUMP THEM!!!

A couple of my statements had late fees on them, but it was NOT because of the mail, since the payments were mailed on Sept. 8. I think a few of these banks refused to do any work that week, and then figured nobody would challenge the late fees.
Such a nice way to profit from 7000 dead Americans.

Being unable to work is one thing. Using it as an excuse to gouge you and me is another thing entirely.

On the opposite side...I made a payment on my Blue acct using Click to Pay on Sept. 20th. They posted it as paid on Sept. 12.

My problems were with two Associates gas cards (CITGO and Texaco.) CITGO took at least 12 days to post my payment. Must have been rough in Des Moines, Iowa.

On the other hand, I mailed my Associates Visa payment on Sept. 10, and it was posted on Sept. 12.
So there have been widely different results after the terrorist attack.
