I have a 120 and a 30,60 day late pays on 2 different account. What is the best process and Letters to send to the CRA's? I'm just confused, I need help!
You might try a good will letter to the creditor directly. Let them know you are sorry for the late, maybe explain what happened, explain what steps you have taken to fix the problem form happening again, and if you paid off the outstanding balance point out that to the creditor. Tell them you will be applying for a major loan soon, and that the negative data is affecting approval / interest rate - if they could please look over your account and reconsider reporting the negative data. If they agree, can they please update the credit reporting agency to show the changes, and to forward you a letter confirming their agreement. Late listings on the credit report does not damn the whole account, like say a collection or charge off, it can be fixed instead of removing it. It just depends on the extent of the late. Like the 120 will look worse then the 30 & 60 day late. Try that first, if you can't get the creditor to agree, you might consider how old the late is, if it is like over 5 years old, it is not hurting the score much. But if it is recent, you might try disputing it with the credit reporting agency. Try to dispute for removal of the late, if you can't do that then try to dispute for deletion - like on that 120 day late.
Thank you so much for the advice. By fixed you mean the late be removed instead of the whole account deleted. What if it is a closed account?
Yeah if you can remove the late occurrence instead of the whole account listing that would be the best outcome you could hope for. If it is closed, it might be harder to get their help updating, but it is not unheard of. Also when you are contacting the creditor, I forgot to say that you want to write multiple directions, the more inquiries you send the better your chances. Like go to the web site and look up address, look on old statements to see what address they have, also contact the credit reporting agency for what address they have. This will greatly increase your chances for success.
