I don't know if this concerns anyone else, but I am having a growing concern everyday toward the legal advice given out to newbies and regulars, from people who are not practicing lawyers. I don't know if my concerns are foolhardy or maybe exaggerated, but I have a fear of this backfiring and hurting our board. If someone gives someone the wrong legal advice, that person could very well turn around and sue this board. And then what? I also, have a problem with posters requesting additional (unpertained) information from other members. No one here is required to give us there life story, nor how they got there and why. I think we are getting too far in depth for people we have never spoken with or ever met. To be perfectly honest, many of us don't use our real names, most of have sub e-mail accounts set up, etc. Why? To protect our privacy. By giving our life story, our assets, etc. we don't know who is reading the information or who is collecting it for their own purposes. The Internet is a disguise...nothing more than words on a screen. To everyone please be very careful what you say and how much you are willing to tell us about yourself and your life. None of us know the full story. We can only go by what we read and what the poster is willing to tell...which may or may not be the truth. I would just hate to see someone gather the information and use it for their own ill gotten purposes. Thank you for letting me vent. Dani
Dani, I agree with just about everything you said with the exception of the board. If you click on About Us and go to Terms, this is what you'll see: 9. INDEMNITY You agree to indemnify and hold Creditnet, and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders or other partners, and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post to or transmit through the Service, your use of the Service, your connection to the Service, your violation of the TOS, or your violation of any rights of another. So, I don't think the board itself would suffer any consequences, but some of the members might if something were to go terribly wrong. I agree completely with your comment about asking for more personal info and then requesting it be sent via email. Why? They posted on the board so they would get several answers, not one. As I posted in a new bk thread, it almost looks like a BBauer trick looking for business.
