In 10/98, I got evicted from an apartment complex. I was 1 month behind on rent, but I was paying on it bi-weekly, this wasn't enough for them (understandably). Well apparently I got served for writ of something or other on 9/10/98, I was not there, so they TAPED it to my door. When I returned it wasn't there, but they fully admit I never signed it (AFTER the EVICTION). Needless to say I wasn't able to go to court to try and defend myself, therefore they won (no judgement) just got to boot my ass out.
1 year later I try to get an apartment ( lied about the eviction cause it wasn't on any report), well apprently NH has a CRA called The landlord connection, which is a CRA that reports on people who have either, filed suit against a landlord (they don't state reasons just that suit was brought against) or been evicted thru the court system.
If they are a CRA, shouldn't I be able to access this so called file they have on me? Shouldn't I be able to dispute it? (not like it would work). Should I leave it alone, its not on any other report? UGH!!!

Thats unbelievable, I had no idea there was another company was out there reporting tennant/landloard issues - if there is, we should have access to it as we do any other personal information.

I'm really interested in seeing what others have to say about this.

    Good luck,

    Sal-
The site is www.landlordconnection.com they do NH as well as other states. Their site is kind of confusing, I'm not sure if they sell stuff to landlords in the "other states", or if they report for the other states as well.

There are a number of these companies in the rental market. They either do simple searches of public records or may combine this type of search with a credit report. Some also will do criminal background checks if the apartment management requires it. You generally sign a permission for them to do this when you complete an application for the apartment.

The fact an individual may have had a case filed against them in "landlord-tenant" or rent court does not necessarily result in an entry on your credit report.

    Hal-
It may not be on your credit report, BUT if you have been brought to court by a landlord or YOU brought a landlord to court, it WILL show up on the Landlord connection. It WON'T state the reason for going to court. So if you bring a landlord to court for not fixing the pipes, then it will show up on their as YOU suing the landlord. It's not fair. Seeing I was denied the apartment I should have received a letter from the apartment renting lady saying how they found out and that I can request a copy from LLC. Catch my drift? :)

Went to their website and Georgia is not a state that they service. I am not surprised. I have a friend that has been kicked out of two apartments in the past two years (maybe less) and still got another apartment (which she abandoned b/c she was robbed).

It might also be a local association. We have one in our area, $50 dollars a year to join, meetings once a month. They print a "newsletter" which list tenants which have not paid rent, damaged property, etc. I believe that this is a private association and thus laws applying to the cra's may not apply here.

    Mike-
They actually state they ARE a CRA and are bound by the FCRA and EOEA. I just want to nail them with their own words.
