Since I have recently got my EQ to around 700 I decided to see what kind of offers I could get thru LT. They came back with an offer for an Amex Blue and National City. Since you can only accept 1 I took National City. But today I apply for Blue because I have been lusting for it for sometime, APPROVED!!!!!! So there may be something to Lending Tree and your likelyhood of getting approved for a card. I'll update this when I get the National City results.
They only pull soft to see what you are eligible for. After that you get a hard pull if you select an offer. You on get a hard pull from the bank you accept the offer from, and it only allows you to select one. So it's not like when they are trying to get you a loan and prostitute you out. Again a big point in this is if they select you for a card it is likely that the company will accept you directly as AMEX did me.
Just because your paranoid, dosn't meen the're not out to get you. Just because the're not out to get you dosn't meen the're not paranoid
So is this a good way to go when searching for a card? If they say you will be appoved will it usually happen? Sal
Why all the apprehension????? I dont see what the big deal is. Again the credit card you select is the only one who can pull 1 hard, and that's only IF you select an offer. My main point of this was the Banks obvious communicate what criteria they have for acceptance. So even in you dont select an offer thru lending tree you can apply directly, like I did for Blue.
Ya'll, I wrote to Lending Tree today and asked them this question: Question/Comments: If I choose to prequalify for credit cards through lending tree, do you pull a hard inquiry from my credit reports for the initial prequalification? This was the response I got: In the case of a credit card request, LendingTree does a soft inquiry into your credit, for purposes of matching you with credit card issuers. If you accept a credit card offer through our service, your information is then sent to the issuer for review, and a hard inquiry may be done at that time. Hope this helps..I was curious so decided I just ask to be certain. IMHO, The "apprehension" as you call it is a real concern that applying through lending tree might cause multiple hard inquiries which can be quite negative. Most of us around here like to do our research before we act when it comes to credit and credit applications...which is a smart approach to credit!
I have used LendingTree numerous times and I have NEVER seen a hard inquiry generated UNLESS I accepted an offer of credit.
Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards You too huh.....lol I understand the apprehension but I'm pretty sure that everyone here pretty much has access to CW and PG and would know if there were any pulls made and how many....And I would like to thaink that we are all here to help each other and that no one would just post info like this and cause people to have alot of hard pulls for no reason...
Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards I like this idea having someone to check my credit score and then to recommend to me creditor that is going to most likely approve my application. By the way, how can I be sure that my personal info is not going to be used in the future for telemarketing or some other purposes? How secure is Lending tree?
Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards I've been a member of Lending Tree for almost a full year now, and I've never received any telemarketing calls or anything. (I'm also on the Do Not Call listings too, and all telemarketers are supposed to check that before dialing.) My problem is that Lending Tree is showing me that I'm only good for First Premier Bank, First Premier Gold and Centennial Gold (same bank). I can't wait until it shows ME amex blue!
Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards WHAT COULD IT OFFER ME??? Something I don't want??? CHASE Or all the cards I already have???
Re: Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards I never said anyone would do that...don't want that implied or misunderstood if I can help it. Finding out after they pull that something came up...is useful but I sure try to prevent such hassles..so knowing after...problems already there. I think this discussion has been great in providing a lot of info to help others make an educated decision!
Re: Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards Off topic, David, but companies with whom who have an existing relationship DO NOT need to check with the DO-NOT-CALL list ... and if Lending Tree telemarketers choose to call you, you really don't have a defense.
Re: Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards But if they call you and you tell them to not call you in the future, they would be foolish to ignore you. You can always choose not to be their customer, or their legal department can tell their telemarketing department who to not call.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards A COMPANY CAN CALL YOU EVEN UP-TO 6 MONTHS AFTER YOU CLOSE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Lending Tree for credit cards If they pull a soft can't this be good for "B" if u do this everday?
