I've been contacting a few past creditors who were included in my '98 Ch7 BK to negotiate a pay off for better credit ratings...since I can afford to pay off these debts. Some creditors state that they can change my "Included in BK" status to "Paid/Charged Off". After lots of research, I have discovered that I should negotiate for a positive status or a deletion of the account. From the "peanut gallery"....will a "Paid/Charged Off" look ok scorewise? If this will not help my scores or put this account in a positive status...I would simply tell the creditor to F***-Off...
Forget Charged Off/Paid that isn't going to help your score at all. Knowing FICO it will probably decrease it. Only pay if the original creditor is willing to reflect a postive tradeline, or delete the tradeline all together. You've filed BK - they can't come after you. If they don't want to negotiate then screw them. Dani
