I am helping a friend with her credit restoration. The dispute is for a total of 13 accounts. Some of them are not hers (she has a very common name). Some of the accounts are hers but they duplicated the accounts like two or three times each (one good account, two bad accounts, account numbers sometime match, sometime they dont). She disputed three accounts that were perfect accounts ie closed/paid in full/never late. Just checked her report online. Check this out... They deleted the accounts that she said that were not hers and were perfect, but the other accounts that were duplicated and such must wait out the 30 days... Lord, hold my tongue...
Experian is testing my last nerve too. I have disputed accounts that have come back 6 days later verified, by mail they say. When I disputed 13 derogs online, my score mysteriously dropped 12 points because they conveniently deleted a good standing account that wasn't supposed to come off until 2008. I didn't even dispute this account!! I called the bank and they said they never requested the removal. Experian claims that's the only way they delete a good-standing account. I disputed a duplicate account. Same acct. number, one showing paid/never late, the other, same acct number showing 30 days late. I disputed the bad duplicate telling them I was never late, they deleted the one that said paid never late. My file is almost complete for small claims. We have had to put off our new home now for 2 months because of their messing around. EQ and TU have been quick and diligent in deleting incorrect info. EXP has been a crop of arrogant jerks.
I don't know how much good it does, but file complaints on Experian with the BBB, FTC and Attorney General. If enough people do it, maybe somebody will crack down on these criminals. I've recently file complaints on EX and provided proof with my complaint to the Texas AG. They allow you to scan and email any proof.
