Contacted Cap 1 about a credit line increase recently...just got a letter from them saying: "In order to better serve the interest of our customers, it is no longer necessary to request your account be reviewed. We have established a new policy to automatically review all customers credit card accounts for credit limit increases on a regular basis. We will notify qualified customers by mail" So... just an FYI. Ozzy.
Does that mean...DON'T ASK??? Why would they waste money on the mail...JUST INCREASE THE CREDIT LIMIT WITH-OUT ASKING!!!
Yeah, that's pretty much what I got out of it... don't bother asking them. However when I called today to get a new card since the one they sent me had my name spelled wrong, they still have an option to press #whatever to inquire about a limit increase. Ozzy.
Cap1 just sent me a letter for a $200 increase on my existing $500 CL, for a $39 fee, on an unsecured account. About a year ago they raised my account $300 after I started running nearly $500 a month through the original $200 CL (making multiple payments each week), and I went over limit due to the anual fee. I sent a dispute letter over the fee and walla, the credit line jumped up $300 without having to ask. So, at least in my case, someone manually increased the line without having to ask me to pay a fee.
When you talk with customer service ask for an account manager, they are not limited to any time frames. They raised my k-mart card by $100, was told I was not eligible for any changes till Feb. by customer service. They gave my other half a $500 increase last month.
