I disputed a credit card account with CSC about two weeks ago and today I received a letter saying that they want all of my information. They actually want all of my credit card accounts with numbers, recent utility bill, etc. Do I have to send them all of this to dispute an item? Oh, and they also deleted all of my old positive accounts. Any help would be great. Gary
Oh my goodness - thats a new one. But, since "all your old posi's are deleted", it sounds like your file may be split and they are trying to put you back together.
Here's what the FCRA says: § 610. Conditions and form of disclosure to consumers [15 U.S.C. § 1681h] (a) In general. (1) Proper identification. A consumer reporting agency shall require, as a condition of making the disclosures required under section 609 [§ 1681g], that the consumer furnish proper identification. Vague huh? If it were me, I would send them a copy of my DL, SS Card, and a copy of a recent utility (to verify address). 1. For fun, you could only send them positive TL information, and see if they can find the negative, otherwise, tell them per the FCRA you have adequately proven your identity in order to dispute.
