"A company which inquiries on your report does not have to obtain written authorization from you in order to pull a copy of your credit file, but only have a permissible purpose as outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act Section 604. If you feel that the company who inquired into your credit file did not have permissible purpose as stated in the FCRA, you may wish to contact them directly concerning their reason for accessing your file. If they find their inquiry is incorrect, they may provide us with the wriiten authorization requesting the removal of their inquiry."

I disputed inquiries online. I should have used snail mail?

I was bellyaching over the same darn letter yesterday. Maybe they get better postal rates when they send those things out in bulk....

It's a form letter. I get them once in a while. Just continue disputing them until they fall off.

btw. TU is very picky about the exact spelling of the company.

for example. On my worthknowing report I have a inquiry from citi 10/09/2001. I disputed it as not mine. Method, Use " citi" as company name, then "10/19/2001" as account number, select other and put down :"did not apply for credit, please delete".

I got that letter you posted after about 2 weeks.

Then I pulled my report directly from transunion and found out that the inquiry is actually listed as "citibank inst 10/09/2001.

So I put down "citibank inst" as company name, 10/09/2001 as account number, disputed as did not apply. And it came off in 7 days.

I hope I am making sense lol.

another example, I recently applied for a generations loc. I didn't get it. So I pulled worthknowing and voila, there was a inquiry from"generations" 02/10/2002

So I dispute. 1)company "generations" 2)account "02/10/2002" 3)reason: other : did not apply for credit, please delete.

Well it's been well over a week and the inquiry still has not come off.

SO I pull directly from transunion and find out that the inquiry is actually "generations bank" "02/10/2002"

So I once again put in a dispute but with the updated company name of " generations bank"

I have bumped in this problem multiple times. So what I would do is try both info from the worthknowing.com report and the actuall transunion report. One of the disputes in bound to work.

Thanks I'll try that. I just hate using snail mail.

Oh leo do you think I got the letter and no inq deletions because I disputed inq only? I wonder if my disputes had included some accounts I would have got better results.
