I've been lurking for about 3 months--you people are on top of things!

I signed up with Lexington a couple of months ago. I have gotten back the first round on my most important report--TransUnion. I live in Chicago and everyone pulls them. Of 14 disputes, only 2 were deleted. But the truth is that 6 of those that were verified are student loans made to me directly from my college a few years ago--some of the information is definitely incorrect.

I am thinking seriously of dumping Lex ( I really do think they are okay though) in favor of doing online disputes with the 3 bureaus because I can do it faster and better control the results.

I highly doubt that the CRA's attempted to verify all of this wrong information.

What do you think? How many should I dispute at once? Should I stagger them a few days apart or does it matter? Can I re-dispute the ones that just came back verified less than thirty days ago? How is Transunion online?

Also, I received a Citibank Plat offer in the mail--I am sure that I have never been offered a card from them before. But right now my scores are 489 Equifax Beacon and 589 Experian--why would they send me one?

And other than a Cap 1 card that I applied for last week (and was denied) I haven't applied for credit in probably a year. I haven't sent it in yet--what are my chances? Should I bother?

My goal is to either delete them or collapse my student loans so that i have one big bad student loan versus a bunch of small bad ones!

    Thanks for listening!

    Welcome to the board,

Lexington, junum etc can not get your student loans back into shape. If you have negatives on your student loans you should attempt rehabilitation of your negatives quickly. This will remove all negatives. Read about it at this link in the student loan section.

Citibank sends those offers out to alot of people but it doesnt really mean anything. With that score do not apply for the platinum card. NO way. They have a regular classic card and the Amerian Airlines Advantage classic card which is better for those with lower scores. Good LUCK!

roni--thanks for the article that helped me out to.

So if my loan defaults and was sold to a servicers Sun trust bank and is paid off and never late they should be the ones to tell Chase bank to remove the default?

    texas,

actually no. if you paid your loan without rehabiliting it you are stuck with the default status for 7 years. Those are just he breaks. But I can tell you that I was successful in getting deletions anyway just by disputing the accounts several times.
