YES Great service. Highly competitive products! I have their auto insurance products and they're wonderful! By the way, as I recently had a major car accident I learned a lot more about what's really necessary. Make sure to go ahead and get high liability limits and if you get uninsured... get the same limits as your liability. Look at your state's laws, but in my state, uninsured coverage can also protect me as UNDERinsured... meaning: I was lucky and there was a TON of corporate insurance for the lady who hit me. Major corporation and rental car insurance to boot... but, my uncle had a major motorcycle accident and the lady who hit him only had 100k... in liability. His first hospital bills alone were over 50k for only 2 weeks... plus there's going to be a hip replacement and a lifetime of paid... meaning: his total claim can be upwards of 1 million (pain and suffering, expenses... all get multiplied by factors in an accident). Where there are injuries, the total lawsuit goes up dramatically. I was surprised by these numbers... I had always thought in terms of cars hurt and a few injuries... but neck back etc can hurt someone for 40 years...and they (or you) can get compensation for that... Meaning: an accident can cost you 1 year of work... or maybe you can't work in your field again... etc etc. If your uninsured is adequate... you can collect under it if the person at fault in underinsured. Now, check with your agent on all this as state laws vary... but from what I've learned this last year, your personal uninsured motorist coverage can save YOUR butt... and here's another great thing: Ask for a list of quotes for the increasing liability... it wasn't that much per year additional to go from 100k total liab to 500k... and that's a HUGE difference in coverage (I think I paid 119 more total per year per car)... it's the basic liability that costs you... but stepping up in coverage amounts don't cost much more and that really surprised me! One last bit of coverage you might want to look into... when you have solid auto and home insurance (or renters)... a Liberty Mutual Umbrella policy for 1m is only 98 per year here... and it covers also stupid things you can do and be liable for other than a car accident... it goes above any existing coverage and is a wonderful deal. My personal injury atty recommended it and I took it. Even if you're just building assets, good insurance coverage not only protects you now and what you have now but also it protects your future income. After all, who wants to work to satisfy a judgment from a car accident... ugh... After seeing the true ramifications of an unintended but still rough car accident, I also think top of the line auto insurance is the responsible thing to do... that way, if you do make an unintentional mistake.. at least your insurance can cover someone adequately! regardless of the coverage you get, Liberty Mutual is a great company with very reasonable rates You're lucky to have found them!!!
I've been with Liberty for about two years, and I'm very happy with them. Customer service is helpful and polite, and as Marie stated, they have great rates.
I have had Liberty Mutual since 1998 and had been very happy with them until now. My husband had an accident 8/01, hit a car that waqs double-parked in middle of street, no flashers, nothing. No one was injured but the property damage to the vehicle was paid out to $5000. This was our first and ONLY accident and LM TRIPLED my premiums! Went from 976 to over 3000!
Was that based on a surcharge thru the state? That seems awfully high. Have you seen if there is an appeals process? Can't hurt to try if there is one. It might be too late but one of the biggest mistakes that I have made was to just accept a surcharge w/o appealing it. I am now going to pay higher rates for six years and who knows? My appeal might have been successful. I certainly would have been no worse off by appealing.
No, it wasn't a surcharge. A portion of it was due to e new vehicle but at least $1200 of the increase was due to the accident. I've been fighting with them for months while paying. Gonna switch insurance companies ASAP.
This is not a good time to change companies. Wait a while. Your rates with a new company will not be any better.
The thing that is getting you with this kind of accident, is what your state is allowing your insurance company to do. Working with mulitple state laws has given me some insight into which states are truly protecting their consumers. Some states have a fantastic law regarding accidents like this one where the car was double parked with no lights flashing. These states will not allow a company to penalize you in any way for accidents caused by things that could not possibly be foreseen, and where there is no reason to expect any hazard. An example is loose gravel or other things in the road, vehicles stopped where they should not be stopped, etc. Most states do not cover this, and so your insurance company can give you points, re-place you to a less preferred tier, etc etc. You can write, or file complaints with your state's insurance commissioner to try to get this changed.
Actually, AIG through Union Plus quoted me approx. $1800/yr which is about $1300 LESS then LM. The only reason I'm holding off is I need $600 down. Just started a new job yesterday so as soon as I get rolling with that I'm gonna switch. Plus the 1 year anniversary date of the accident is coming up in about 2 weeks.
