    General Question...

It is my understanding that if a CA does not have a business license in your state they cannot do business in your state. It seems pretty straight forward that they wouldnâ??t be able to send you collection letters, but does doing business include reporting to the CRAs?

There's a good thread in my sig on it...some states require licensing and/or bonding for collection agencies...is that what you mean?

Are they limited to attempts to collect the debt only (letters, phonecalls) or does it include reporting to the CRAs. Since reporting to the CRAs could be considered collection activities?

Reporting to CRA's would be a part of their business :)
