    Hello,

I am trying to find one of my old creditors who obtained a judgement against me 6 years ago. I want to see if they are still in business and if not, see about disputing the judgement as not mine. I looked in the yellow pages, no luck. I looked in the BBB, no luck. So i'm starting to feel pretty positive that they might not even exist anymore. But is there a place to find out about business license, business who changes their name, etc. How about finding out the tax id# of a business? Anyone know where to find this stuff out? This company has never contacted me with re; to this judgement. Hell, they didn't even serve me notice of their filing. But since it's been 6 years and they have left me alone all these years, I would hate to find out that they did indeed exist still and have them start enforcing the judgement. And when it's supposed to fall off in a year.

    Thank you,

    Jane

If I were you I would just dispute the judgment as not yours. Most courts don't repond as they are quite backlogged. I have gotten many judgments off friends reports that way.

I did that already. I also disputed a judgement that truly isn't mine and it came back verified by the courts. So I called the Court and they said that all CRA's really do is ask the status of the judgement. In my case, this judgement has been paid so the Court responded paid and the CRA left it on as verified. When I questioned the CRA about this, the CSR told me and I quote " Well, it came back as a paid judgement and the Court didn't tell us to take it off your report, so as far as we are concerned it is validated". Well, how do you like that?

I should say it's a rent a car place. One of those corner lots that rent not so new cars. I didn't even find out about this judgement till years later. I used to not be in the habit of checking credit reports. But after finding these different credit boards, not checking is no longer an option.

Go here and it's a good place to start your research for your questions. You can also just try google searches "california business license" and such! You'll want to also specifically check the requirements of the city of the business. Sear, for Ex: Orange business license california
