In reviewing my credit report I noticed that Experian on my True Credit report was reporting several accounts as Pay Status: Collection/Charge off and also as Discharged through BK. Can they list this is information as a BK and a Collection/Charge off? I sent them a letter regarding the way it is being reported and they sent back an "updated" investigation result stating that they can update my personal credit report if I either write to them listing the items included in my BK or send them a copy of my BK schedule and a court document showing the chapter and filing date. The letter I originally sent to request and investigation already contained all that information about which accounts I am referring to and since they are showing that a BK already exists then why would I need to send them my BK papers?
I agree do not send them the BK matrix. This will prevent you from ever removing anything regarding the BK or any accounts included thereunder. The better move is to target the pay status, account histories and dates of status. They have to re-investigate these pursuant to your requests presuming you've not disputed them a couple of times already.
If it was a collection/charge off at the time you filed BK, yes, they can report both. However, True Credit is not a good place to see exactly how a tradeline is reporting for dispute purposes.
In order to be able to monitor your credit and obtain your credit scores, what service is recommended? The reason I chose True Credit is because they gave 3 reports and 3 scores. If there is a better one out please let me know Also, I WILL NOT be sending Experian my BK papers, thanks for all the good advice. I wish I would have found this site sooner!!

While True Credit is good to monitor, what we are saying is that you need to go to each individual bureau and get your reports first. They do not all report exactly the same way, so on the trimerge report the information may not appear exactly as it does on the individual report. True Credit will alert you when changes post, and will give you scores. But to really dispute accounts you need to know how the individual bureau is reporting it.
They give you cheap looking copies of your credit reports and FAKO credit scores. Those scores are not FICO scores and there are no lenders that you them. The only way to get your real credit scores it through MyFICO.com or through a lender. Not even the credit bureaus can give you your real scores.
Don't send the docs...because they will throw them in the 'bin'. Gizmo: Don't worry...send them a COPY of what they request... if you are ready to waste all that postage. The fact that CRAs are notorious for ignoring any and all documentation sent by consumers to support their disputes is reason enough to not do it. (I doubt that the information about the BK itself--if the CRAs actually used it--would hurt you; the panic that others have shown in this thread is totally, IMHO, unwarranted.) A question: How long ago did you get the BK discharge? If it's within the last two years or so, IMHO you should wait and let the situation "age" a bit. A dispute filed with the CRAs now will likely fail to do much of anything to get those scores out of the cellar.
Perhaps your opinion is that it wouldn't hurt, but what if it does? Why give ammunition to the opponent? As Apex said, there are many things to attack without giving the bureaus all the proof they need.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MIS-INFORMATION! If you send them the BK papers you will ensure that the BK notation will remain on your reports for the entire ten years. I have seen folks eliminate the BK notation sooner than ten years. Do not do the job for the CRA's. Think of it like talking to a traffic officer that just pulled you over. Keep you mouth closed and you stand a chance of not getting a ticket.
