Were can I find a list of collection agencies. CCS? is calling my wife for a debt of her recently deceased mother and they were very rude and threating to her. Her mother has zero assets and no probate was necessary. can someon help and let us know how we should proceed. They left a phone number of 1-800-636-9645. Thanks in advance.
Are they demanding that your wife pay? Or are they looking for her mother? Is your wife somehow responsible for the debt?
Request validation from them in writing... If they don't validate they can't continue collection efforts. If they do validate, you can point out they have the wrong party. Either way, if they continue collection efforts before validating you can sue them for FDCPA violations!
