I need to get started filling for chapter 7. It's all consumer debt (credit cards), all of which have not had payments made for over two years. I'm trying to gather up account numbers and addresses for all the creditors that should be listed on schedule F (unsecured creditors). I have all of the credit cards that I used to use, so listing all of those should't be a problem. I'm not sure what I should do to ensure I've listed all of the collection agencies. Each credit report is slightly different and many don't have complete account numbers listed. I haven't been receiving notices in the mail for a while now and have nothing but the credit reports to reference.

Any advice on how I should proceed to ensure every creditor is listed?

From what I understand, the account numbers, and the total amounts due, aren't really all that important in a chapter 7. Your name and SSN is the most important info. The creditor will receive notice, and they should have all your info from there.

Also, pay special attention to make sure you list the original creditor, so it's on file that this debt was included. Sometimes, it's really tough to get all of the collection agencies, as this can often switch every couple of months! I listed pretty much EVERYONE I could think of, with ballpark amounts, just to cover my bases.

Myself, I filed under the old law, no-asset case, so I'm not sure if this may have changed with the new laws. I'm usually not a hire-an-attorney type of guy, but doing so for the bk was well worth it for me!

    Good luck to you!

Since the BK attorney gets paid ahead of the creditors, why would you not use a competent one?
