I used to have an account with Literary Guild book club. I closed the account about 3 years ago and still owe about $100 on it, This weekend I received a letter from a CA, stating that they represent LG and they will report t CB if I dont pay.

My question, don't they need your ss# to attach a debt to you? When I signed up i never gave out a ss#. Are they blowig hot air?

Im in the process of negotiating some charge-off pymts w oc, and cannot afford to pay this right now. Any help will be appreicated.

Years ago, when I was financially irresponsible, I did the same thing with Literary Guild, Book of the Month, BMG, Columbia House. I just never seemed to be able to make myself pay, even when the collection agency letters started coming. The CAs eventually gave up, and none of the derogs are on any of my credit reports. I think it would be a tough sell to tie the the collection to you with only your name, especially if you never made a payment to them.

I would, however, like to say that now I am a dedicated member of Literary Guild, Sci-Fi Guild, Children's BOMC, and BMG. I normally send my payment the day after I receive a shipment.
